Why do Republicans want to appear to actually be Democrats?
Making a single man's previous allegiances the big deal? The question is: why do the Republican's need a "Democrat" so desperately that they make him the keynote speaker for tonight?
Newt Gingrich calls Zell Miller a convert. If Zell is a convert then he is also a former Democrat. He has switched to republicanism? A good conservative church for some, I guess.
Miller when introducing Bill Clinton twelve years ago hoped Clinton would force the Democratic Party to the right. Making it just another wing of the Republican Party. This clearly didn't happen. So Zell stopped going to caucus meetings and otherwise participating in the Democrats process and became a Republican but in name thus continued to wear the dead skin of a Democrat over his nice new Republican clothes.
Why are they so desperate? Republicans sadly lack things that Democrats have. How many of us have see something like this: a black and new SUV with a bumper sticker which reads "Bush Cheney for 04" almost run over some homeless person selling the local streetwise newspaper on the streetcorner? "Heart" is one of these things the Republicans lack and they think it's like a cup of sugar you can borrow from the neighbors.
