I doubt McCain would care what the left thought. He's not a lefty himself.
My whole point here, which has been lost in the baying, is that the Republicans have produced a lean political machine by enforcing a fierce and uncompromising discipline on its membership. The speakers during this convention have been carefully chosen to mask the content of the platform, but when it comes down to the wire, the platform is what all Republicans will be expected to adhere to.
The very thought that a Republican would be permitted to support a Democrat, for anything, over any Republican candidate is laughable.
The Democrats have no such discipline. Otherwise Zell Miller, the elected official, would not still be able to call himself a Democrat.
