I have heard many Democrats say Lieberman is, for all purposes, a Republican.

It seems to me as if the Democrat party is becoming two parties.

First there is the Liberal Democrats coming mainly from the West Coast and New England. Then there are the Conservative Democrats (the old traditional Democrats) that come mainly from the south.

I would say Miller and Lieberman are both Conservative Democrats while Kerry is a Liberal Democrat. Edwards seems more in the middle ground.
