Numbers are good, but economists had been hoping for 150,000.
The report is here.
Note that numbers for June and July were revised upward--in the latter case to 73,000 new jobs. Wonder how long the original 32,000 number will be seen in political speeches.
Household number only went up by 21,000 jobs. What's THAT all about?
The unemployment rate, 5.4 percent, is now lower than it has been since October of 2001, a month after the 9/11 attacks.
Currently, there are now 913,000 fewer payroll jobs--the standard everyone is using--than in January of 2001. 1,032,000 fewer than the all-time peak of March of that year.
