"It was enough to help Bush in economy approval even if it wasn't raved about. In a normal recovery these types of awesome 300K+ numbers continue for more than 2 months. We had years of 200,000 jobs/mo increases under Clinton/Republican Congress. This is a weak recovery Tom, but it is a recovery. We still face the spectre of a double dip recession if oil prices don't drop."
Clinton didn't have a "recovery"- Bush senior had the "recovery" part of the recession. When Clinton took over it was the beginning of a bull market, which continued as booming economy and became a tech bubble, which burst as he left office.
I would guess that we "could" get another bull market "sometime soon", but I wouldn't say we are in a bull market or that we are in a booming economy. I would say we have already recoveried from a recession. And steady growth would be welcomed. We are probably going to continue modest/steady growth or sideways movement. I would prefer steady growth rather than a boom followed by the bust.
If oil prices drop much further (say by 10 dollar per barrel lower) it could result in the start of a bull market- with the supposively huge reserves discovered off Mexico, prices could be reacting to this or might react downward to other new developments.
