We don't hear much about the Tories.

But then we wouldn't. We won.

Until William Tecumseh Sherman invented "total war" in Georgia during the Civil War, the custom was not to wage war on civilian populations.

Many terrorists over the years have been tracked down, arrested, tried and imprisoned by international police efforts.

Fallujah is a war zone because we are there. War is the breakdown of civil authority, which the US, led by the Bush administration, encouraged, and which the US, also under the Bush administration, was unprepared to restore. No one can expect civil authority to function properly in a war zone.

No one can expect any nation to have "a chance at democracy" (the certainty is gone from that signal thought, I see) while civil disorder reigns. The golden chance went up in smoke when, instead of the optomistic recreation of the Liberation of Paris in Baghdad, our armed forces were faced with sullen and terrified civilians, unemployed but still armed soldiers, and looters and vandals. No plans were made for that.

Sure, there were protests over the invasion of Afghanistan. Some people oppose war in general as a matter of principle. And some people (not necessarily the same ones) dislike anything America does. But there were far fewer protests, and many more nations worldwide supported that military action, as opposed to very few now.

Don has said he supported the invasion of Afghanistan. I know I did. Do you have anything to contradict that?
