On the other hand, we have someone in the office now who thinks that pre-emptive first strikes are the way to stop violence. I view this as not only counterproductive, but in direct conflict with our national ethic as a nation that pursues peace, not world domination (unless this too has changed), and with our previous treaty obligations.

I don't have the right answer. That doesn't mean I don't know the wrong one when I see it.
