Xp isn't a supported version until you get to ACAD 2002. It still works, but there are quirks that will go forever go unfixed. On of them is that with ACAD 2000i on XP the Open DWG Dialogue always shows up in large icons. You can change it to details, but it won't stick. Its not something that impedes ACAD, but is annoying. I finally quit using the box and kept opened soley through windows explorer. I bet your regen problem won't be fixed unless it has less to do withe the OS and more to do with the chipset. For instance there is a patch for Pentium III computers. Its worth checking around the website for stuff. Also check the newsgroups, there's lots of gurus who get a thrill out of helping people.
Happily we have upgraded to 2005. No more odd quirks like that, and they've fixed most of the new quirks with a service pack. :)
