I live in Pensacola and there were rumors about the death toll being higher. We were not allowed into parts of Pensacola and we were not allowed near Pensacola Beach. Rumor has it by pretty reliable sources there were 400+ dead from hurricane Ivan. Someone who worked at the local hospital said the the morgues were full. The beach was covered with bodies in trees ect... The press was not allowed to shoot from a helicopter over the beach for a week. Pictures of the beach aftermath were not allowed for two weeks. I was in Pensacola when it hit. It was too horrible for words to describe.
