The problem [perceived by some people] with Afghanistan is we didn't do enough to help them *after* their war with Soviets, that is our "hand" in the affair. It's not our doing that Soviets decided to invade Afghanistan- our hand in the affair was we helped the Afghans to fight the Soviets. The Taliban is what the Afghanistans selected, as the Germans selected Hilter, as the present Iran leadership was selected. The argument anyone raises is the lack of US aid to Afghanistan- the lack of US involvement.
