Our activity is against the Taliban, not to displace warlords or rebuild the country. One US military person was quoted as saying Karzai is more the mayor of Kabul than President, he is guarded by US Special Forces because Afghans can't be trusted, and the countryside is either Taliban or growing opium.

Clearly, the US presence is minimal, and not there for Afghanistan.
