In the months before and after 9-11 I knew several people from Afghanistan and talked politics with them. At least two of them had old bullet wounds from fighting the Russians. The afghans were not given a choice- once the Soviets left the warlords, armed with weapons we sent them to fight the soviets, took over and the Taliban was created.

The feeling I got from those I talked to was that they had nothing more than intense hatred for the Taliban, and that their feelings reflected those of the population back in afghanistan. THEY didnt get a choice you goddamn moron! Osama set up shop there because he could take advantage of the chaos we left there- Hell, many of the terrorists camps we bombed were ones we helped build!
