Man, why do we even debate plans?

Ok, let me put it to you nice and slowly and in words you all will understand.....The next president, no matter who it is, has no plan for Iraq. They can't. There are simply too many unknowns based entirely on human emotion. As divided as this board is on how things are going there, can you even imagine how the people that are actually in Iraq view their future? Yeah, there are the positive thinkers, the intellectuals that understand that peace and prosperity make their lives easier but they are overwhelmed with the Islamic extremists that see anything short of a male-oriented fundamentalist state as complete defeat.

I've been reading a great deal lately on early American history and the struggles our nation went through to get to the Constitutional republic we are today and let me tell you, a few tiny missteps or bouts of bad luck and we'd be in utter chaos. George Washington was in the sight of an English sharpshooter and the man elected to let him ride on. Numerous times the framers of the Constitution barely escaped from tragedy.

The best the next president can do in Iraq, in my opinion, is to not be too rigid in reacting to events as they unfold. The man needs to use his intellect and knowledge of human behavior to help guide the process along. For either candidate to be setting timelines for elections, troop pullouts or deployments, is simply electioneering. Of course we as voters demand those deadlines so they're forced to come up with them.

Stating categorically that there will or won't be a draft after the election is simply idle conjecture at this point. It certainly seems to be a possibility if our military reservists start rioting due to their extended deployments. However, the notion is political suicide and both of these men are polished politicians.

Let's just hope intellect drives the decisions and not some vision of the Seven Horsemen.
