re: My opinion

"Bush's victory is a victory of fear - fear of terrorism (which in my opipnion is greatly over-rated), fear of foreigners, fear of change, fear of progress, fear of "God". "

The woman vote was critical for Bush's success, and polls showed that the Security Mom wasn't as significant as the Morality Mom. Also women who were single went overwhelming for Kerry, but those with children strongly favored Bush.
So you could say that it was more about "the children" than anything else.

I think there is little doubt that war of terrorism and specifically the war in Iraq was an anchor that almost killed Bush. What saved Bush was his energizing his religious base [the marriage amendent and stem cell position]. And with an energized base, Bush ran an incredible "ground war" of getting new voters and getting his voters to the voting booth.

So, I would say I completely misread this election. I thought that the American public would see the importance of the war in Iraq, and even though they may have had their doubts [implanted by MSM] that they would in the end back the president on this issue. I would now say the American voter for the most part "blinked" on this issue.

But now that election is over and MSM doesn't gain anything to spin the Iraq war in such a bad light- plus time and the election in Jan will provide evidence that Iraq is at least as much as a successful as Afghanistan is today. More likely Iraq will be wildly more successful than Afghanistan.
