When I was a kid, cigarette ads were everywhere, showing how swell smoking was. Joe Camel? Hell, Fred Flintstone was selling cigarettes on TV. Yet I did not take up smoking, and I'm no paragon of virtue.

It's one of those uncomfortable "choice" things again. But then "American citizen as helpless victim" is what it's all about, now.
