Pathfinder cost many times LESS & used much older technology. It is YOU who has the feeble mind for not including in your admittedly informative (and therefore appreciated) rant that with competition, costs decline and quality improves (usually, anyway). With your repeated unwarranted insults today, it would seem that you somehow benefit from the government contracting paradigm which tells us real taxpayers that we must accept the lack of color photos as being the best that's possible. I bet it's not, which is precisely why Lockheed Martin doesn't want competitive prizes to emerge regarding Mars.
