And any foreign corporation that want access to the largest consuming market on earth should be paying for that access.
Let's take your 7,000 jobs and look at how the Bush trade deficit with just China has lost Washington and Oregon more than 14,000 jobs since 2001, according to the Economic Policy Institute.
Realize there is good news and bad news on the job outsourcing picture. The good news is that job loss has been slowing the the low-skill apparel and shoe-making sectors. Unfortuneately this might be explained that no longer do this industries exist other that small niche producers in this country. Brockton, Mass. was once the center of the shoe industry in the US, and today their industry is a memory.
The bad news is that job-loss to foreign companies is accelerating the high-tech sectors. Washington lost production facilities supporting 7,628 jobs 2001-2003 because of the trade imbalance with China, and Oregon lost 6,966.
According to this study, since 1989 the US has lost production supporting 1.5 million jobs to China.
