Our tastes are almost identical. Except for Mars exobiology, arguing with you is like shouting at a mirror.

I'd love to see a movie based upon "Ringworld" or "Forever War". Suposably someone is doing or has done "Rendevous with Rama".

Concerning the "Lord of the Rings": A touristy thing my family and I did when we were in New Zealand was visit some of the sites where they shot the movie. The scenery there is breathtaking. Unfortunately it does spoil the movie a little bit. Now when we watch the movie, we know that Isengard has the Dart River flowing down the middle of it (we took a boat ride up the Dart River). Many of the scenes in the Two Towers were shot at the "Deer Park" near Queenstown. There's an abandoned movie prop of a North Korean Prison Camp just outside the field of view of many those scenes. Peter Jackson was very clever in how he balanced CGI with New Zealand's natural beauty. However I think Jackson is in for trouble with his "King Kong" movie. There's no way that movie could be anything other than a turkey. I don't understand why Jackson is doing that to himself.
