There is no "Bingo!" here- the fact you would think so makes you identical to those that use game terms to descibe the war...

This is a terrible thing... I personally think that any sane human would rather be dead than live like she is...

BUT I understand her parents clinging to unrealistic hope, and fighting for her 'life'...

What sickens me is the politicians hijacking the tragedy to score press time...

Recently there was a case of an infant that was born with a deformity that meant certain death- the baby's lungs would never work on their own, it was a known fact that the child was going to die.

The mother claimed in the face of all the facts that the baby just needed time to grow... she was wrong, and I think deep down she knew there was no hope... but what the hell is a mother to do in that case? Every medical expert would say that the child was going to die ... But could the mother say "ok... let my baby die"? of course not... she fought it. The system stepped in and let the inevitable happen... the baby died... It is a tragedy... I feel so much sympathy for the parents... The courts rightly decided to let this poor child die sooner rather than later.

The mother had every right to fight for her baby... she had every right to have irrational, impossible hope... but in the end it was a fact the poor innocent would die... It was only a question of how long the infant suffered. The child is dead now, is there anyone here that would feel better that this doomed baby was being kept alive via respirator for a few days more?

I am not callous, but would it be 'kind' to have kept the poor baby alive, only to die after a long pointless fight?
