Stomping on the Constitution

I have my own doubts on this being a case for even state government, let alone Federal, but I've noticed over many years a very wide range of flexibility on the part of both parties on where the Federal government should have sway or not.

The term "constitutional" has almost lost all objective meaning, and seems to translate roughly nowadays into "things I approve of."

Many of those horrified that the Federal government would take a role in a personal matter like this had no problem with government troops going down to Florida, ripping a kid out of someone's arms, and sending him back to a totalitarian regime. So it goes.

Hell, the Federal government interferes in personal matters every day of the week. That doesn't make it right, but just thought I'd point it out.

Frankly, I've seen enough of this case now to think that it stinks on several levels. The husband's actions and statements raise a red flag in my mind the size of a bedsheet. He wants her dead awfully bad. I still have no idea why he just doesn't sign a paper for the parents and say, "She's all yours." I don't think it's about money.

Beyond that, I have no answers. I've heard interviews with people who were in similar states (although not for so long a time) and recovered. They remembered everything, including breathing tube operations without anesthesia.

Dead is forever.

If it were my wife, I would exhaust every possibility for years.

"But who would want to live like that?"

Really? The idea of "wanting" something or other implies that someone is still in there, doesn't it? If she's just a piece of breathing meat, what difference does it make to her or anyone else if I keep her breathing? And if she isn't just a vegetable--if there IS a mind in there--then there's a finite chance, isn't there?
