I've had that issue for a while and never bothered to do anything about it.

Just played with it for a sec....

Changed my encoding from Western (ISO-8859-1) to Unicode (UTF-1) and I can read it without the gibberish, just as Mary Anne intended. Of course, this is under a different GUI and operating system so might not be much use. Best o'luck Fox.
