You win, oldtimer
I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing a lot of learning going on over there.
No need to apologize, I'm pleased to hear that.
If you know something I don't know, let me know.
Warn you? No way, Jose!
Safe generality: A sure sign that a political party is near its zenith of power is talk of a permanent majority. The Founders considered that notion so repugnant that they deliberately designed the system to defeat you. They not only allowed for peaceful revolution, they created a system that encourages it. The system is forgiving enough to give those who seek power enough rope to show their true colors; and encourages the people to throw the rascals out when they overstep their bounds. And people with power always do. Modern Republicans didn't invent "drunk with power", the Founders recognized the trap long ago as a constant of human nature, and planned for it.
In GOP versus The Founders, I wouldn't put my money on the GOP. The Founders have a great track record of getting their way...in the long run. One just has to be patient and wait for the pendulum to swing.
