I recently bought a laptop... it is 1.3 GHz and has wireless... I love it!!!
Its hard drive has about 2500 times the memory of my first 33MHz desktop, (which cost about 3-4 times what I paid for my laptop, not including inflation).
I decided that since I hadnt played a video game in a few years I would go and buy a few cutting age games, one of the games I bought was 'Halo'... its a first person shooter game set on a ring world- it is a joy to play... mediocre story line but realism that exceeded my dreams- I played it for a few hours and then decided to go online and play against, and kill, real people...
It was like shooting fish in a barrel, cept I was the fish... I would log into a game and be killed immediately, by immediately I mean within the first 2 seconds - I would log in and see the detailed landscape in front of me and then I would see my bloody carcass falling to the ground... Now, it was painfully obvious that I was being killed by kids in the 11-18 age range, not only could they run jump and shoot me while pelting me with grenades they could send me taunting messages at the same time....
I have only played online a few times and I have learned my only hope is to run and hide and sneak up on my opponents, but I have to accept that I am no match for an 11 year old....
We have come a long way since Pac Man....
