Card's style for all of his Ender's books is to have a snippet of conversation in Italics at the beginnig of the chapter. The charachters were never identified, so you had to infer who was talking from the conversation. In some of his later books (I think it was in the Shadow series), Card started using E-mails in that spot. The e-mail was always from some anomynous-like e-mail account. I got a kick out of the ones that were made to look like spam.
In Ender's Game Card made the nets feel like they were pretty well controlled, since kids couldn't easily get their own accounts. contrasting that to the more free-willing internet you read about in his Shadow books, and might conclude that Card's perceptiOn of the nets changed. Interesting.
