My favorite TBS is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_Panthers>Steel Panthers. I bought all the originals in the late 90's. When development stopped, the rights were given to 2 different groups who wnated to keep improving it. One stipulation was they had to provide it for free. I have strictly stuck with the SPCAMO games SPWW2 and SPMBT since from what I read they have better gameplay. The problem with them has been that they were DOS games. You could sometimes get them to work in winXP but not always and it was a hassle. Just a couple of days ago, they released the first windows version of SPMBT. SPww2 will be many months down the road.
You can read about and download it here.
As always its free, however they are now selling an expansion pack that has extra goodies. I will probably buy it when I get a few extra bucks.
Sadly I won't have time to play it for a few more weeks. I'm tempted to download it now, but then I definitely won't get my current project done. Its been hard enough with that damn America's Army icon sitting next to the AutoCAD icon. :)
