If you actually read the report, you'll find that that web site is brazenly lying about it

The truth:

Conclusion

The committee’s report provides additional insight concerning the nation’s efforts to stem the health effects of high dietary sodium intake, based on newer types of studies focused directly on health outcomes. The new studies support current efforts to reduce excessive sodium intake in order to lower risk of heart disease and stroke. However, the evidence on health outcomes is not consistent with efforts that encourage lowering of dietary sodium in the general population to 1,500 mg/day. Further research may shed more light on the association between lower — 1,500 to 2,300 mg—levels of sodium and health outcomes.

the actual damn report bold added by me

In other words, what the report says is 180 degrees the opposite of the way that preventdisease.com portrays it. At worst it calls into question whether it's a good idea to reduce sodium intake lower than the current guideline of 2300 mg/day. Nowhere in that report does it say that high sodium levels are safe.

Speaking as somebody who has hypertension and suffered a heart attack in part because of excessive sodium intake, I'm more than a little outraged that these assholes would play games with peoples' lives to peddle herbal remedies through their online store. People will hurt themselves if they follow this web site's advice.

Pure crap, and as ER pointed out, pure crap with a political spin.
