"...reducing our salt intake below 1 tsp per day." Any typical prepared meal or TV dinner etc. has a 1 tsp of salt in it. Virtually all the food you eat - even if no salt was added - has salt (or more to the point: sodium) as a component. It is a common building block of all living things (maybe there's an exception to this that I don't know about?).
"Salt is the most common and readily available nonmetallic mineral in the world." When did sodium lose its status as a metal?
"So how could a mineral which we’ve bathed in and absorbed in all foods since our existence be so harmful for the human body?" Good lord, have you have your blood pressure checked lately?
"A low salt diet will actually increase your risk of death." Narrowly true, but... Except for a vanishingly few people, Americans do not consume a low salt diet. The vast majority of Americans consume a very high salt diet.
I get it that you like salt, and that you don't like people telling you it is harmful, and that you enjoy the feeling you get when you declare that an authority figure is wrong.
