**First off, I may not seem very moderate right now- I had nearly no sleep last night, I worked late and got up early to commute down to the emergency room so a doctor could take a scalpel to the inside of my eyelid, and then commuted back up so I could work another night... In short, this is not one of my better days...**
So why was it moved? The article quoted in the original post, aside from being factually incorrect and poorly written, was Theological in nature... making OT the more appropriate venue for it... I was willing to let it go, because in a stretch, you could classify it as science fiction but as I feared it would, the thread went rapidly down hill... Not surprising when the original article quoted the Raelians, and misplaced Europa...
I have NO hostility towards SETI, and I think SETI is a perfectly valid topic for Space, but a theological article that is factually incorrect and presents nothing of space/science value really belongs on OT... as you can see the thread degenerated to the point that there were posts claiming that there are UFO's in old paintings....
If anyone feels my action was unjust, I invite them to voice their complaint on Community, I will try to listen and discuss the decision there...
