I'd rather commercialize it

E.P. Grondine — 6/30/2005 2:29:29 PM (archived)

Speaking about prizes, I'd like to see the copyright laws ammended so that whoever finds another intelligent species gets all commercial rights to their broadcasts for at least 50 years. Any television show broadcst coming from another intelligent life form would certainly be "must see TV".

Is there any good reason to think that any other intelligent life form will not use the radio spectrum to amuse itsefl? Given what is known about our own use of radio communications, I suspect that SETS, the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Stupidity, is likely to enjoy far more success than any search for extra-terrestrial intelligence.
