Hi ljk -

Consider for a moment, if you will, the small emount of energy that we have put into deep space transmissions, when compared with the amount of energy used to transmit entertainment.

The question of whether ET might use communication satellites or whether fiber optic has replaced them has been given cursory eamination. But that said, there seems to be little question that if they are at our technological level they probably use radar - and therin lies the key - make an estimate of escaping signal, allow for noise, and then sum your recieved signal over a long enough period of time for any sweep signals to emerge.

If anybody way more advanced is out there, we can be fairly certain that their SETS program has enjoyed success, and they are enjoying such classics as "My Mother the Car", or will be shortly.

How rich do you think Paul Allen will become if the current effort finds anything?
