This was a railroad job from the beginning, designed to construct a racial hostility narrative in critical Florida prior to the election. The shitstorm the loyal media unleashed is documented in this timeline.
The media overran the story before the facts came in. Zimmerman turned out to be another minority altogether, the facts were not what the narrative had said, and it blew up in their faces. I said as much last March.
The story should have faded out, and the trial become a local matter, but everything since then has been an attempt to salvage the narrative, including documented DOJ attempts to help fan the flames.
Maybe nothing will happen, and I will be pleasantly surprised.
