I'm afraid I don't have the time to pick that agenda apart. Needless to say it typifies the frightening leftist positions held currently in America.
The selling of America's future is underway. Education is being watered down into a political action education and the indoctrination of kids into "proper" groupthink.
The scary thing is that MA's defensive reaction is typical, she and others who fully support the NEA really believe in the "good" of the NEA and of the leftist agenda. If you aren't part of their groupthink you are an enemy. Even in their policies and decisions this pettiness and control of thought and action is apparent.
Unions today don't serve their members. They are dumbed down and the representatives are often clueless as to issues of any particular corporate manipulation. They're busy adding terms like multi-ethnic to their forms while their members salaries get lopped and their positions and responsibilities get reorganized. It's all about power and money the union is like being a member of a weak mob. He takes your money but doesn't protect you. It's far easier to add "multi-ethnic" and "other" to a form than to spend time trying to address grievances.
So union members are desperate. They are angry they feel they are given the shaft from both their union and their employer. And what's more - they're right.
Political correctness is the movement of the insecure. They feel ostracized either because of their appearance, ethnicity, weight, gender orientation or economic status. They feel unequal and so they place equality above all else. Sadly, they fail to see that equality for all is impossible (and undesirable!) and seek governmental or organized groupthink which forces others to conform to their views fostered by their own insecurity complex.
So the PC movement rolls on, borne of ignorance and insecurity, while the movement's members own personal situation does not improve. The ones who figure it out and stop feeling sorry for themselves and educate themselves better so they can compete are called sell outs and traitors. Those who call the emperor on his new clothes are shouted down. There is comfort in belonging...even if it is to a movement as messed up as the leftist agenda.
Eventually one realizes forcing others to comply to your whims is a waste of time and is not desirable. All that energy spent on creating a fake equality will only further harm the members. Just like the leftist mantra of animosity towards English only. They imprison their members as third worlders with such a practice. They will condemn them to lower paying jobs and always feeling like outsiders who are dependant upon others to speak for them.
Naturally unions want a bunch of folks who feel powerless in their ranks. If they felt more competent on their own...they don't need a union.
