My point is that unions are becoming obsolete. They swallow lots of money and give window dressing.
Imagine what the money that goes to union dues everywhere could do to help improve the lives of those who pay those dues.
The working person has to stop seeing the union as salvation. The days of child labor and sweat shops is over - and where it isn't over, these folks are powerful enough to resist unionizing in the first place.
It's like the lottery. Anyone who seriously expected the lottery to better their lives would be quite foolish. What's worse this undeserved faith would detract from addressing their problems in other ways.
Putting your hope in your union to give you better wages, better hours or job security is misplaced.
Who needs hire union employees when they can hire illegal immigrants to do the same work?
Who needs to worry about strikes when you have a sea of hungry replacements crossing into our shores from Mexico, Vietnam, India, Lebanon, etcetera daily?
The tools a union has in their bag of tricks is becoming less potent with every passing day. One arm of the left's agenda delivers a left hook to their own chin! It's self-defeating.
Those links above where Michigan teachers are finding it hard t communicate with parents about their kids. They cite language as a barrier - and then they go on to provide their guides in both English and Spanish!
It's preposterous. They're utterly clueless as to what causes the problem in the first place. Respecting "Diversity" is putting coke, orange juice, milk, seltzer water, Gatorade, coffee and Whisky in the punch bowl and then reacting in horror as folks go into convulsions or spit it out violently.
Illegal immigration is destroying salaries, job security and the workplace. Failing to address that while instituting "Diversity" education is typical of the cluelessness that is exhibited here. Creating "worker programs" and supporting Vincente Fox is like shooting yourself and fellow union members in the head.
Compassion doesn't mean being a sucker. Being nice doesn't mean you hand out money to poor strangers until your purse is empty. Likewise, being tough on immigration doesn't mean you're racist or hate people and anyone who would tell you that is like the drunken bum on the corner who likes to watch the friendly, but dumb, woman empty her purse over his head and complains when someone suggests she not do so.
The left is hurting the American worker. False compassion has opened the door to corporate abuse. Corporations are only too happy to hire folks who'll work for peanuts and give the hard-working American the pink slip. Corporations didn't use to have the options they have now. And other corporations have to foolow suit just to stay in business.
Sure, if you or your kids are bright they'll always survive and may even thrive. But while the education quality gets worse trying to deal with kids whose parents don't speak English, there are a whole bunch of kids whose future is very bleak. Also-rans who will settle for cruddy salaries, long hours, no health benefits and will be renting forever. If their folks are smart they'll know who to blame - but if they are brought up thinking it's capitalists and the rich that have screwed them over, then they're even less likely to escape from their leftist-designed destiny.

That wasn't my point.
