These Space Exploration opinion polls are almost worthless
I touched upon this in another post. Space Exploration opinion polls are normally constructed as "push polls" and effectively worthless for actually judging public opinion. We can safely assume that the public does support Space Exploration but does not know why. IMHO, this public support would instantly vanish if the public saw any real economic sacrifice attached to exploring space. Fortunately this is almost irrelevant. The federal government funds Space Exploration mainly due to national security and economic considerations. Public support is simply a slight added bonus.
