Child labor, product safety, environmental protection, occupational safety, minimum wage, overtime, the 40-hour week and 8-hour day, right to unionize, right to strike, the list goes on--and they've fought every single one. Why, because they don't want to pay for it.
Well, they've lost every single fight, and yet they've never been richer. But they're still fighting. They just want more. They never seem to get enough. In spite of the country's economic problems, the stock market is soaring, productivity is up, corporate profits are up, executive salaries are skyrocketing while real wages, corrected for inflation, continue to stagnate, unemployment is rising and the middle class is shrinking. More and more of the national wealth is being concentrated in fewer and fewer hands, and they just want more.
