Discussion

Real discussion pays attention to the other side. It responds to specific points, ideas, and new information. It doesn't put its fingers in its ears, refuse to look at anything other than what it wants to believe, and tear down the debate with insults, tirades, and sheer craziness.

Real discussion might have involved a reasoned response to Jody's link to the Teamsters story, not a load of insane bilge. Again, it's instructive what you consider a "smear" and what you let pass.
