"QED" is an abbreviation for the Latin phrase "quod erat demonstrandum", which literally translates as "that which was to be demonstrated". In other words, "I've made my point", which of course is only an opinion and others may disagree.
Your phrase "fear of one's own limitations" tells me where you misunderstand what I'm saying. Slavery is the ultimate case of other people imposing limitations on a person, and the examples I gave show how slavery can be a matter of degree. It's dishonest to say that Americans aren't being enslaved simply because we aren't literally wearing chains.
A term like "wage slavery" could only have been coined in America, and sure enough, it was, by 19th century female garment workers in Lowell, Mass. The link goes to an unusually interesting wikipedia article on the subject, and I recommend it for a little light historical reading, as well as perspective on the real meaning of slavery. Damn if reality doesn't perversely persist in disagreeing with Tom that "government=slavery".
Jody, if you see people who claim that there's economic enslavement going on in America as merely cranky adolescents, doesn't fairness require you to say the same thing to people who make the same claim but name government as the villain?
