Thanks you for bringing the fe3 project to my attention. I didn't know of it. Unfortunately, hoaxers go out of their way to muddy the waters (and to some degree I don't blame them), but they work in secrecy, while most scientists' work out in the open and make their findings available to the public and the likes of Robert Irving and his ilk.
If they are so darn good at their art, they should make a video record of every crop formation they do, and show the design plans, dated and sealed and mailed to themselves so that the scientists can call them on their projects as well. I would say it has to work BOTH ways.
That way, at the end of crop circle season, they could present ALL the formations as their own brilliantly conceived artwork and put to rest all other theories. Seeing as how crop vandalism is now punishable by law, these cowards will continue to snort at the sidelines, chiding everyone.
As for Paul Fuller's essay, I plodded through it for almost an hour. I found it informative and reasonable. Originally a ufo investigator, he has a jaundiced eye and a cool head. He admits that parts of the phenomena STILL can't be explained, and brought out the historical pieces of crop circles that went down near Devises around the turn of the century, the 1920's and WWII. No one had an answer for those, except for calling them "fairy rings".
