And if it IS an off planet intelligence, why WOULDN"T they appeal to us subliminally and without making too big a splash? They're not going to use our phone lines, they're not going to broadcast on TV, they're not going to land on this hostile planet.

If they did, both sides would be shooting.
So then, how best to get our attention?
By showing us things we can't do? Maybe little by little give us advanced theories for things we know that show they are <intelligent?> I have a friend that says that nobody pays any attention to "crops" being laid down, and it's until the same patterns start showing up on pavement and the sides of buildings that anyone would notice. But then the governments and military would be outraged, because that would seem too threatening.
