You evaded the question

I asked you to tell me what Bush's plan might be, but you didn't respond. It seems to me that if all you can do is challenge me to come up with a plan, you're admitting that Bush has no plan.

Dude, I'm not President nor am I running for President. I'm not Secretary of State or Defense, or National Security Advisor, nor am I a Pentagon General. Who cares whether I have a plan? Who cares about what you call "standard liberal methods"? The issue on the table is that this government appears to have no plan.

It's not partisan to point out that the emperor wears no clothes; it's my duty as a citizen to speak up about a problem so that it can be fixed. The Bush Administration's lack of a clue will have harmful consequences far beyond the outcome of the next election.

Have you ever asked yourself why the al Qaeda terrorists think it's the front line?

How would you know that? Do you know for sure that the entire membership of Al Qaeda answered Bush's call for martyrs?

Why are the insurgents blowing up other Iraqis if they are all about getting Americans out of Iraq? Why are they killing Sunnis now that the Sunnis want to participate in elections?

Because it's all about getting Americans out of Iraq. The insurgents attack people who cooperate with the American occupation. Has it escaped your notice that their favorite target is police trainees? Followed closely by officials of the new government. They're killing Sunnis who want to participate in the elections because they're against elections. Which part of all this isn't blindingly obvious?

Our troops are killing and capturing dozens of terrorists and insurgents for every American who falls. In the war on Sadr, the ratio was a hundred to one.

That's good, but what's the replenishment rate for insurgents? Our troops in Vietnam maintained stats like that, and we still lost. And suppose we got into a war with China with its proverbial endless column of marching soldiers--how high would the ratio have to be before we could overcome the Chinese ability to make soldiers faster than we can? There are lies, damned lies, and statistics....

You've already settled on a comfortable meme for the war in Iraq and the war on terror. Unfortunately, the facts don't match up consistently with those assumptions.

I have? Tom, that's hilarious coming from Mr. Republican. You've become so comfortable with the Bush-is-Lord meme that all you can do is react with standard boilerplate from the official Republican handbook. When was the last time you disagreed with the Party line?
