One also has to read ALOT of science fiction to realize how entertaining it is. I know it's just creative fiction, and yet I'm drawn to it, and it reinforces my interest in factual science. If I were religious I might read creative fiction with a religious theme, and it would probably reinforce my interest in factual religion.
Do you see where I'm going here? We atheists are pretty sure what's real and what isn't, but we are never completely free of that nagging "something". The real kicker is that I'm certain it isn't religion either. Maybe it's the perverbial 'experience machine', virtual reality matrix that philosophers assert could be the 'real' reality. Obviously there would be more to it. There is a cognitive shortfall at the limit of our understanding. That's where I'm at.
