Avoiding the ravages of a pandemic flu is really quite simple....wash your hands frequently...cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze...stay home if you're sick...and avoid unnecessary physical contact with others.
Currently only a handful of deaths worlwide have resulted from the bird flu, but the virus is one sugar away from evolcing into a organism that can be transmitted from human to human.
Unfortunately, there is no vaccine. Nor will there be for at least nine months. My organization is prepared for having 30% of our 1,200 person workforce out sick should a pandemic strike our community. Our health department is working hard to prevent a potential outbreak in our community. All it really takes is following the simple rules that start this post.

- 142 million deaths possible from bird flu
- I've got a question...
- Possible BEFORE modern medicine. Not any longer.

- Influenza pandemics
- I already got the flu shot -- they should have included bird flu if it were so serious
- Scarier than an asteroid hitting the Earth!
- Color me skeptical.
- I will bet you that more people die of measles than bird flu in '06. (n/t)
