re: I don't really agree with the article

"As an atheist, I define religious tolerance as that, merely tolerance. When one tries to assert a religious belief, one that is based only on blind faith (really just personal feelings), then one is behaving provocatively towards others."

So people who claim that global warming is a serious threat, are being provocative. I always thought it was annoying:)

"For example, when a muslim bluntly states "Mohammad is the prophet", can he prove it? Obviously not, but this statement is in the form of a fact."

Well, that there currently exist about a billion muslims is pretty good proof. That some guy writes something down over thousand years ago and in the distant future there is all these guys praying 5 times day, etc.
Besides how can someone who is an atheist even talk about prophets- what is a prophet to an atheist?
I mean from the way I look at it, that Smith guy who started the Mormons is a prophet. I would say that prophets are pretty much a dime a dozen. And "The" , the "only", or the "last and final Prophet" could classified along similar lines as "the best movie- ever"- though I suppose "the best movie- ever" could fighting words.

"Someone who was not raised as a muslim would be taken aback, wondering why such a statement would be made? And the question "Why?" is always left unsubstantiated, basically a matter of choice in what one thinks about Mohammad. So an agnostic is left looking for reasons as to why Islam is any more factual than Christianity, or Hinduism, or Buddism, or whatever."

Actually being an agnostic, the significant question I ask is why is so damn important that all these guys are spend so much effort on it- and why is it essentially [barring trival details] so much the same shit.

"No reasons are provided. If Islam is truthful, then Christianity must be wrong. If Christianity is truthful, then Islam must be wrong. And what of the diversity of sects within each theology? Which one is correct? They hold some beliefs in common while disagreeing on others."

This is such a simplistic and stupid point, I won't bother answering it.

"As an atheist, I define religious tolerance as that, merely tolerance. Because no religion is truthful and religious assertions are totally unsubstantiated, no religion can be allowed to dominate, no religion can be allowed to trump freedom of expression, to trump the truth, should it be discerned from amongst all the lies."

I'll also be tolerate towards atheists because it's not truthful nor can substantiate anything it claims.
