Probably the reason we enjoyed it so much was due to the Empire Strikes Back Snow Speeder which had the gunner in back facing backwards. We had that station wagon about the same time ESB was popular I think.

also considering its likely adults would have to sit back there as well, how comfortbale do you think adults would be staring back at the cars behind them. It would probably be a bit unnerving unless the window were tinted.

Didn't the WWII Stukas have a guy facing backwards? Any other planes with that cockpit configuration?
