While the mileage is terrific, 0-62 MPH in 20 seconds is just too slow acceleration for safely merging with high speed traffic. High mileage is of little use if you get flattened trying to get on the interstate. It might be good for purely inter city driving but my experience is that a stick shift gets old in constant stop-and-go traffic.
The GT model accelerates over twice as fast and still gets a very respectable 87 MPG. The cars are kind of cute, the prices are good, and I'll bet they could sell a lot of them once they're made compliant with US specs (e.g. pollution control, 5 MPH bumpers, mandatory safety equipment, etc). Their ground clearance is probably too low to do well in snow but they'd be a hot item in sunny places like California, Arizona, and Florida.

The LS model is probably too underpowered for the US market

- 157 mpg car to go on sale soon.
- Having looked it over a bit, I have some comments.
- Basic version only goes 75 mph. Not sure I can drive that slow. (n/t)
- I want a one-seat car
- How much does it weigh? How many does it carry? How much trunk capacity? (n/t)
