Block one - maintain the same temperature.
Block 2 - raise the temperature by 0.2 C.
What is going to happen over time?
Since the average surface temperature of the Earth is about 15 degrees C, by this theory, there should be no ice anywhere on the planet. Unless the average temperature across Antarctica is consistently above freezing, raising the average temperature a degree or two isn't going to change things on a massive scale. There would be local effects, of course.
You're right about my conclusions. The mountain pine beetle has been native to those forests for millennia. A series of warmer winters and dry summers have created an outbreak. Unless you have evidence that there have been no similar outbreaks for thousands of years, I suspect this is part of a natural cycle. Back before trees were a natural resource, they died, beetles died back, and new trees grew. Far too many environmentalists think that nature is a still photograph, not a movie.
