So, since you didn't address any of my points, can I assume that you accept the theory of anthopometric global warming?
I'm sure you remember that I have always been an advocate of nuclear power, and I think most of the "left" here are in favour as well. I don't recall anyone here advocating shutting down or decimating civilization in order to curb pollution.
I realize that there are a few people who do advocate such things.
However, I suspect that Pianka is not among those radicals. Lacking a transcript, I may be wrong. But anyone can take almost any speech on a controversial topic and spin it into something quite different that what it really was, depending on what the listener wanted to believe. For example, it wouldn't be too hard to present one of Bush's rah-rah speeches to the troops and make it seem like he was a raving, war-mongering megalomaniac.
Dumb-ass panic stricken solutions aren't going to help, but neither is dumb-ass torpid inaction.
There really is a problem and something has to be done, or at least attempted, because the consequences are going to be severe, as if they haven't been enough so already. Ever hear of the mountain pine beetle?
And did you ever stop to wonder who might oppose nuclear power, besides some environmentalists? Take a look at Forbes' list of the ten biggest companies in the world for a clue.
