Our problem here is that we fail to understand what these people are trying to achieve...they are trying to save their religion against the forces that will make it irrelevent. The post-modern world, with its instantaneous communications from one corner of the world to another, threatens fundamentalism in all its forms - which relies upon isolation to persist. We are witnessing the demise of religious belief as it desperately clings on to its existence. The only question is whether or not we will actually survive the transformation.
