Odd, but the word "Republican" appears nowhere in that article.

Oh, sorry, I was unaware that I'd have to point out that Hastert, Cunningham and Abramof are Republicans, something the New York Times figured the average reader would know without having to label them as such.

BTW, I notice that McCain is not specifically called out as a Republican either in that article, so I should probably clarify that he is.
