Tropical Islands - Heat Sink Effect
great analogy...
the first thing I noticed while visiting Kirbati was that the minute you left the cool ocean breeze and walked into the coconut groves, the tempature and humidity skyrocketed.
On or near the beach it was a about 85-F. Walk just into the trees where you were protected from the wind and the tempature skyrocketed almost immediatly to well over 100-F.
To bad the place will be gone when the sea level rises in 300 years or so. Oh, but then it will be wiped out several times before then when Typhoons periodically hit in the next 100 or so years. Oh wait...Typoons are apparently caused by global warming too!
